Job Description

Position Summary & Objective:
Serve food and beverage in a timely, friendly and professional manner according to established standards and procedures. Responsible for station assigned; maintains mis en place and prepares hot and cold foods for the breakfast restaurant according to management specifications and for catered events as required. Additionally focusing on our guests and maintaining the restaurant to the cleanest standards. Greet guests, bus tables, wash dishes, prepare food, put food orders away while rotating stock.

Position Summary & Objective

  • Serve food and beverage in a timely, friendly, and professional manner according to established standards and procedures.
  • Responsible for station assigned; maintains mis en place and prepares hot and cold foods for the breakfast restaurant according to management specifications and for catered events as required. Additionally, focusing on our guests and maintaining the restaurant to the cleanest standards.
  • Greet guests, bus tables, wash dishes, prepare food, put food orders away while rotating stock.

Service Standards

  • Eye contact should be made at a distance of no less than 10 feet from every guest.
  • A genuine smile should be offered at a distance of no less than 5 feet from every guest.
  • Employees should build rapport with guests during any conversation, if the guest responds to the initial statement with a conversational demeanor.
  • Guest last name is used effectively, but discreetly, as a signal of recognition as least once and not more than twice during any conversation with guests.
  • Before concluding conversations, the guest is verbally offered additional assistance with a statement relevant to the guest’s individual needs.

Essential Functions of the Job

  • Set up station and mis en place to Chefs specifications
  • Cooks food to order as necessary
  • Set up, maintain, work and breakdown station and maintains area cleanliness throughout shift, cleans work area at shift end
  • Properly stores all mis en place at shift end
  • Submits production needs for the following day by shift end
  • Have accurate working knowledge of the Micros system.
  • Maintains breakfast buffet through meal period.
  • Assists in the clearing and set-up of tables during service.
  • Ensures tableware and chairs are clean and in place.
  • Completes side duties.
  • Maintain the proper care and cleanliness of tableware, serving equipment and service areas (front and back of house).
  • Complete paperwork for each meal period ensuring sales in Micros
  • Ensure friendly greeting to all guests.
  • Take orders and serve food and beverage requests promptly. Ensure that established service procedures and standards are followed.
  • Check with guests during breakfast for guest satisfaction.
  • Understand and follow safety and sanitation procedures
  • Be punctual
  • Work well in a team environment
  • Maintain professional appearance and behavior when in contact with customers and co-workers
  • Follow policies and procedures as outlined in the employee resource guide
  • Any other tasks assigned by supervisor, department manager or manager on duty.

Additional Job Duties

  • Ensure that your Manager is aware of guest comments and concerns
  • Report to shift on time.
  • Treat others as you would expect to be treated. Be courteous to guests and co-workers.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures for the Food and Beverage Department, Limelight Hotel, and Aspen Skiing Company.
  • Be familiar with hotel fire and safety procedures. Assist in the event of an emergency and/or security event as directed by management.
  • Complete tasks and projects delegated by your manager and assist other departments as business volumes and staff levels demand.
  • Report to work in a neatly groomed and acceptable manner as outlined in the employee handbook and departmental rules.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Indoors v Outdoors – Indoors 95% of the time, Outdoors 5% of the time.
  • Standing v Sitting – Standing 100% of the time
  • Work Environment -. Working as part of a team; working AM, PM. Working holidays. Overtime may be required due to business need.
  • The kitchen environment is one that can be hot or cold, floors can be slippery, and some areas poorly ventilated. General working conditions may at times be intense and stressful.
  • Physical Requirements – Ability to lift 40lbs and push/pull & carry and other items up to 100lbs.
  • Constant reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing and seeing (near, far, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision).
  • Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, tasting, smelling. Dealing with noise of lobby area as well as phones

 

Education, License/Certifications & Skills

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous food and beverage experience preferred.
  • Ability to multi task and prioritize
  • Competent with computer programs such as Micros.
  • Must have the ability to work with numbers (cash exchange).
  • Knowledge of food and cooking methods, ability to work well with people, strong organization and supervisory skills, good public relation skills, professional appearance.
  • Language Skills
  • Excellent written and spoken English

Experience

  • Prior guest service experience is required.

 

Grooming

  • All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Aspen Skiing Company Hospitality standards.
